In early August 2025 information from the 2GIS online map service was collected via extensive scraping and parsing techniques. The incident involved automated queries targeting profile data associated with active phone numbers across Russia and Kazakhstan. Approximately 20 million accounts were indexed during this process. The leaked dataset includes phone numbers linked to user nicknames and direct links to profile avatars. Analysis suggests that about 99 percent of the affected users are located in Russia with the remaining 1 percent based in Kazakhstan. This event highlights risks associated with public profile visibility and automated data collection on large scale mapping platforms.
